Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Police say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered many other smeared cars and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis show the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior political figure commented the attack rendered him speechless and had to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
